Fox Lake Cree Nation

The Fox Lake Cree Nation has currently about 1100 band members including around 500 registered residents on the Reserve. The Members spread out as far as Thompson, Churchill, and Winnipeg. Fox Lake Cree Nation or (FLCN) an independent band formed in 1949. Originally named the “Gillam Band” It then was renamed to what it’s the current title. Ancestors of this band have been here since the last ice age and still practice traditional hunting practices. This band is fully aware of Hydro development as they have been exposed to it for over half a century.
